Admissions

Half_width_website_se2 How does my child get a residential place?

We work in partnership with Staffordshire County Council and other residential special schools to ensure that our residential estates serve as many young people as possible.  All applications are dealt with by the Residential Heads Admissions Panel.

We currently offer 2 types of residence, Res 1 and Res 2.

A Res 1 placement is an extended school day.  It will probably run through until 7.30pm at night although this can vary depending on the activity and the time of year.  Your child will go to the residential wings from school.  They will be offered the opportunity to get changed into their own clothes and then take part in an activity.  This may be on the school site or in the community.  They will be given a meal and you will be asked to collect them at a specified time.

A res 2 placement is a full overnight stay.  Your child will be allocated a bed space.  They will be placed on a floor with other children and they may have their own room or share a dormitory.  All food and activities are included.

Residential applications take place twice a year in September and February. Your child can access a maximum of 2 activities per week.  This could be 2 Res 2 stays, 2 Res 1 activities or 1 of each.  Your placement is for 6 months and will be reviewed at this point.  If there is a significant waiting list your child may loose their place.
