Drama is a very popular subject at Walton Hall. In Key Stage 3, drama is at the centre of the creative arts curriculum and is taught as an afternoon block for years 7-9. Drama is part of the Arts Award accreditation throughout the school.
In Key Stages 4 and 5, students have the opportunity to participate in accredited options in drama and performance skills. Our courses cover all aspects of theatre skills including sound and lighting, scenery and costume design.
Performances.
Each year, the school produces a range of performances for the local community such as performing Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at Trinity Church in Eccleshall and Walton Hall's Got Talent at the MET in Stafford. We also worked with the Gatehouse Theatre during their annual Shakespeare Festival.
Theatre Visits
A programme of visits to local theatres and Artists in Residence, ensures all our students are able to access live performances.
Film Making and Media
Students are able to explore drama through film making in Key Stages 4 and 5. Each year we participate in the Funky Flamingo Film Awards. You can view our award winning films via their website. We also use our media suite for digital editing to support enterprise, literacy and communication. Students in KS5 are working towards the Diploma in Creative Media.
