Our specialist facilities are impressive, particularly for music. We currently have a music room with keyboard facilities, a music technology and media room with high-quality workstations which have specialist software and a fully equipped recording studio.
Children at Key Stage 3 follow the National Curriculum and have a music lesson each week. They learn about the elements of music and experience performing, composing and appraising music.
At Key Stage 4 children can opt to continue music. This may be delivered through Performing Arts or they may wish to specialise in music technology. We will always try to offer both to externally accredited levels with specialised teaching.
At Key Stage 5 young people can continue formally accredited work at a higher level or continue music as part of a general option.
Children who are less able or have sensory needs will access music through a differentiated programme which is availiable throughout their time with us. Music underpins much of the daily routine across thier curriculum.
Over fifty children recieve free extra curricular, individual or small group instrumental tuition.
Shine On
Our choir has over 30 members of all abilities who regularly perform in school and the local community.
Visiting Musicians
We have an established programme of visiting professional musicians to work across the school. In particular, we regularly work with Paul O'Brien a teacher, singer and songwriter who always includes us in his European tour. We have established links with Ghana and recently hosted an exchange visit adding to the cultural diversity of our musical experience.
