Pastoral support

Half_width_calvert_2 Supporting our Children and Families

We understand how challenging it can be for children and young people who have disabilities and learning difficulties to get their voice heard.  Sometimes this means that children may behave in ways which challenge others, themselves, and/or the learning environment.  We have comprehensive internal pastoral systems which will help your child manage themselves and achieve their full potential.

Mrs Wilcox is our Pastoral Leader and she has helped to develop our school behaviour policy.  Our policy is very clear in identifying what we consider to be appropriate behaviour and how we reward it using our points scheme.  It also explains how we sanction innappropriate behaviour and support children to find better ways of managing and coping.  When your child starts school we will give you a document explaining our systems and informing you who to contact if you need help.

We are committed to providing support to families wherever possible and we have several staff who can help.  We facilitate regular parents meetings and have visiting speakers of interest to parents of children with learning difficulties and disabilities.  We regularly hold family activity day during the holidays.  These may be trips out or activities in school.
